Western Digital SSD Dashboard — фирменное программное обеспечение для проверки состояния SSD накопителей производства WD. Программа позволяет получить расширенную информацию о диске и занятом пространстве, а также производить мониторинг температуры и скорости передачи данных.
Панель мониторинга SSD-накопителей Western Digital включает возможность выполнения команды TRIM для оптимизации диска, и контролировать выполнение TRIM с помощью планировщика. Также доступны быстрый и расширенный S.M.A.R.T. тесты для получения подробной информации о состоянии SSD диска.

Обзор программного обеспечения Western Digital SSD Dashboard
Сразу после загрузки программа Dashboard автоматически определяет поддерживаемые диски. Если в компьютере установлено больше одного SSD от WD, вы можете выбрать нужный диск в выпадающем списке в правом верхнем углу «приборной доски». Этот выпадающий список присутствует в каждом разделе и всегда под рукой, что очень удобно. Если ваш диск(и) не отображается в списке, просто нажмите иконку “Refresh”, которая находится в правом верхнем углу окна программы, чтобы заново просканировать систему на наличие подключенных SSD Western Digital (хотя они должны определяться и показываться в списке автоматически).
Общая информация (General) о выбранном диске отображается вверху и включает в себя номер модели и версию прошивки. Также в этом разделе показывается информация о состоянии диска (на основании данных самодиагностики по технологии S.M.A.R.T.) в виде одного из двух индикаторов: «normal», который означает хорошее состояние диска, или «poor», который показывает, что число резервных блоков близко к минимальному порогу или что диск перегрелся. Ниже, в разделе Status, отображается более подробная информация об SSD. Панель емкости (Capacity) показывает общий объем диска WD, а также относительное количество свободного, занятого и неразмеченного дискового пространства в виде секторов круговой диаграммы. Если диск заполнен, то круговая диаграмма будет просто на 360° закрашена красным. Правее круговой диаграммы выводится список всех томов с цветовой дифференциацией свободного и неиспользуемого пространства. В данном примере наш диск WD Blue фактически пуст.
Под панелью емкости находится панель Life Remaining, которая показывает выраженное в процентах оставшееся количество перезаписей, которые может выполнить диск WD. Эту функцию поддерживают не все диски.
Расположенная справа панель температуры (Temperature) каждые 30 секунд выдает текущее значение температуры диска. Диаграмму скоростей в WD сделали очень наглядной: скорости записи и чтения в МБ/с выделены соответственно синим и зеленым, а скорости записи и чтения в IOPS – фиолетовым и красным. К сожалению, здесь нет встроенного теста, поэтому вам придется делать его самостоятельно (например, вручную перекачивать большие файлы на диск и с диска) и отслеживать на диаграмме показатели производительности SSD.
Функция TRIM освобождает на SSD пространство, которое было занято уже стертыми файлами. Вы можете сразу настроить ее на автоматическое выполнение (в зависимости от ваших потребностей) или запускать ее вручную, когда вам нужно, кнопкой Run TRIM Now.
Раздел Tool содержит массу полезных функций. В их число входят: обновление прошивки, стирание с выбранного диска всех данных, создание загрузочного USB-диска, удаление данных без возможности их восстановления (Secure Erase), санация, тестовые функции, вывод подробной технической информации о диске, а также информации о системе.
Чтобы обновить прошивку, просто кликните расположенную вверху слева ссылку Firmware Update и далее кликните Update SSD Firmware, чтобы запустить процесс обновления. (Чтобы посмотреть, доступно ли обновление, может потребоваться нажать кнопку Check. Она включается только тогда, когда программа SSD Tool по каким-либо причинам не проводит автоматическую проверку обновлений).
Далее вы получите предупреждение с указанием на необходимость/ желательность создания резервной копии данных. Как обычно, мы отмечаем, что обновление прошивки в целом не несет в себе ничего деструктивного, но иногда может оказывать побочное негативное влияние на данные (например, вызывать неожиданные ошибки или повреждение данных). Хотя для всех обновлений обычно указывается, сопровождаются они потерей данных или нет, в любом случае шаг номер один при обновлении прошивки – создание резервной копии важных данных, просто на всякий случай. После этого можно продолжать процесс обновления и нажимать Proceed.
После обновления прошивки следует полностью выключить компьютер и снова включить его для загрузки «с нуля». Программа предложит вам сделать это сразу после завершения процесса обновления.
Если вы нажмете “Hide Options”, то программа предоставит вам возможность создать загрузочный USB-диск, а также его версию на CD/DVD. Вы также можете вручную выбрать файл для обновления прошивки, если вы загрузили его самостоятельно с сайта WD.
Опция Secure Erase позволяет окончательно и бесповоротно удалить с выбранного SSD все данные. Однако, в отличие от санации (Sanitize), при которой вместе с данными полностью удаляется вся структура записи, функция Secure Erase не уничтожает блоки, в которые были записаны стертые данные. Обе опции применяются очень легко: просто выберите диск, который вы хотите очистить, и нажмите Erase Now под соответствующим ярлыком.

Double-click on the WDSSDDashboardSetup.exe file icon to launch the installation. To cancel the installation, click on the X in the upper-right corner of the dialog box. 2. 7 Introduction Usage The automatically scans for WD SSDs after it launches. If a WD SSD was not connected to the system when the application was installed, or if a specific SSD does not appear in the Dashboard, reconnect the drive, and then click the Refresh icon to the right of the Select drive drop-down menu to rescan the system for WD SSDs. When all SSD drives have been detected, you can select a specific drive by clicking on the Select drive drop-down menu. 3
8 Status 2 Status Status Section Capacity Volumes Life Remaining Temperature Interface Speed Status Section The Status section displays the overall state and health of the selected drive. To select an SSD drive, click the Select drive drop-down menu. The following information is listed at the top of the Status screen: Model — The product model name of the selected WD SSD. Firmware Version — The version number of the firmware installed on the selected WD SSD. Drive Health — Drive Health summarizes the current condition of the selected SSD based on Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) attributes. Normal: The drive is in good condition. Poor: The number of spare blocks has reached the minimum threshold or the drive is overheating. In the case of low spare-block count, replace this drive with a new WD SSD. 4
9 Status Notifications — Notifications, such as software or firmware updates available or S.M.A.R.T. attribute warnings, will be displayed in this area. Security — If the selected drive supports security, this area will be visible. Not Activated displays if the security protocol is not active. If the security protocol is active, the name of the active security protocol displays, for example, TCG Opal 2.0. Capacity As used for storage capacity on our packaging and device label, one gigabyte (GB) = one billion bytes and one terabyte (TB) = one trillion bytes. On the WD SSD Dashboard and within Windows folders, total accessible capacity varies depending on operating environment and the capacity displayed is based on the Windows operating system's calculation method for total-reported capacity. Green — Free space Blue — Used space Gray — Unallocated space Purple — Other Magenta — Full Volumes The chart displays any drive volumes recognized by Windows. 10 Status Interface Speed SSD Capability — The fastest speed supported by the drive. Connection — The port connecting the SSD to the system. The interface speed is the actual speed negotiated with the system. If the interface speed is lower than the SSD Capability speed, the following message appears in red: For best performance, connect your SSD to a 6.0 Gb/s-capable port. 6
11 Performance 3 Performance Performance Chart Transfer Speed MB/s Transfer IOPS TRIM Performance Chart The Performance chart provides two different real time performance metrics: transfer speed MB/s (megabytes per second) and transfer IOPS (I/O operation count per second). The chart scrolls from right to left and shows moving, 5-minute time line increments on the horizontal axis. The vertical axis of the chart will show either Transfer Speed MB/s or Transfer IOPS. Transfer Speed MB/s The SSD MB/s write and read speeds are shown in the chart with blue and green indicators, respectively. Transfer IOPS The SSD I/O write and read speeds are shown in the chart with purple and orange indicators, respectively. 7
12 Performance TRIM The TRIM function frees up space on the SSD that was used by files that have been deleted. WD recommends that TRIM be run on a weekly basis. Click the Enable Windows TRIM checkbox to automatically run TRIM. Select Weekly, for the frequency, if available. Click Run TRIM Now to manually run TRIM. 8

14 Tools When you click the Update SSD Firmware button, a confirmation dialog box appears. After the firmware has been downloaded to the SSD, a full-system shutdown is required to complete the firmware update process. This is typically done by shutting the computer down, and then turning it back on. A dialog box appears that provides the option to shut the computer down now, or later. 10
15 Tools Check for Updates Click Check for Updates to manually check if a firmware update is available for the selected drive. If a firmware update is found, the status message will change to There is new firmware available for this drive, and the update options will be displayed. 11
16 Tools Update Using File on My Computer Only use compatible firmware update files for this process. If you have already downloaded the specific firmware file that should be used for the update, click Select File. A confirmation dialog box appears. 12
17 Tools Secure Erase Secure Erase permanently destroys all user data on the selected SSD. Secure Erase deletes the mapping table on the selected SSD, but it does not erase all blocks that have been written to. This makes Secure Erase a faster erase option than the Sanitize function (also see Sanitize). Secure Erase can only be performed on an SSD that is not the boot drive. However, if the SSD is the boot drive, the Secure Erase function can be performed from a formatted USB. See Create a Bootable USB Drive for Secure Erase. Delete User Data with Secure Erase Ensure that the correct SSD is selected on a system with more than one SSD. The Secure Erase function permanently destroys all user data on the selected SSD. 1. In the blue section at the top of the Dashboard, click the Select drive drop-down menu to select the SSD on which all user data will be permanently deleted. 22 Tools Diagnostic Short Test The S.M.A.R.T. Diagnostic Short Test runs automatically run every time the WD SSD Dashboard application is launched. It is a quick, drive health test as defined by the S.M.A.R.T. specification. Diagnostic Extended Test The S.M.A.R.T. Diagnostic Extended Test is an extended drive health test as defined by the S.M.A.R.T. specification. The cannot be used while the test is running. However, you can cancel the test at any time. If the test is successful, the progress status changes to a green, test complete message. If the test is unsuccessful, click the provided link to go to the test details. Download the current version of the Western Digital SSD Dashboard software from http://support.wdc.com/. Find it under Downloads on the Home page. Then just double-click on the WesternDigitalSSDDashboardSetup.exe file to start the installation.
You use the Samsung Magician software that provides a similar dashboard for its SSDs. get it at tyhe following link:
I could not find a similar control dashboard for Intel and Crucial M.2 SSDs. However, you can visit the crucial.com website for firmware updates for its M.2 SSDs.
If you have an M.2 SSD made by another manufacturer, search its support page for the tools that it provides.
The Western Digital Dashboard’s software scans your computer for Western Digital and SanDisk M.2 NVMe and M.2 SATA SSDs. Note that WD SSDs use chips made by SanDisk, which, along with Samsung, make the best SSD chips.
The WD SSD Dashboard tabs
The Status tab

The Status tab of the Dashboard provides quite a bit of information about the selected drive – the capacity of the drive, the used capacity and the free space. Other useful information is the Drive Health of the SSD, its remaining life (100%), its temperature in degrees F and C – 93.2/34, The PCIe version – PCIe 3 x 4. In the bottom right corner, there is a section with shortcuts to Windows Disk Management, the Device Manager and System Properties.
The Performance tab
The Performance tab provides the Performance Chart that gives live transfer speeds in MB/s and I/O counts per second readings. Personally, I prefer using the free CrystalDiskMark tool to find out if the SSD is operating at full speeds.
This tab provides a shortcut to the Windows Performance Monitor.
The Tools tab

You use it to make an exact clone of an existing drive so that you can restore the clone to a new drive, thereby restoring Windows as it was to the new drive from a boot medium, such as a DVD or flash drive, to which you copy the Acronis restoration software
You may prefer using the free Macrium Reflect tool, which can create a system image or clone of the SSD to another storage drive such as an external hard disk drive, You would then use Macrium Reflect to create a boot DVD or flash drive that boots the system with the software that restores the system image or clone to the existing or a new SSD,
Note well that in order to boot the system from a DVD drive or flash drive, it has to be set as the first boot device in the UEFI/BIOS.
The other tool options are:
Firmware Update that allows you to Check for Updates to the firmware that runs the SSD.
Erase Drive allows you to create a boot USB flash drive that you use to format the drive or run its Sanitize procedure.
S.M.A.R.T. allows you to run the SSD’s health-testing software.
